With both teams dressing lineups that will likely resemble their opening night rosters, it was the Washington Capitals who came out on top against the Columbus Blue Jackets, winning an overtime thriller by a final score of 4-3. It was a back and forth affair through two periods with the Blue Jackets unable to hold onto leads of 2-1 and 3-2, which is something the team will hope doesn’t plague them as they head into the regular season.
The Jackets got goals from Laine, Chinakhov and Kuraly, which was nice to see the goals spread out among a few different lines.
