COLUMBUS, OHIO – Major League Baseball announced today that Leo Welsh, the Columbus Blue Jackets’ official anthem singer, has been selected to perform the Canadian national anthem as part of the pregame ceremony to kick off the 86th All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 13 at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.
Welsh, who also performs with Opera Columbus, has been singing for the Blue Jackets since the 2003-04 season and has been the club’s full-time official anthem singer since the 2006-07 season. In addition to showcasing his vocal talents at numerous central Ohio events, Welsh has earned a regional reputation and is scheduled to perform “God Bless America” before this Saturday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Quaker State 400 presented by Advance Auto Parts at Kentucky Speedway.
