It's common for a goaltender playing junior hockey to not be his team's starter in his draft year, and Booth is no different. His team, the Quebec Remparts, loaded up for a run at the Memorial Cup, where they were serving as host. In doing so, they acquired Canadiens goalie Zach Fucale from the Halifax Mooseheads midway through the year, riding him for the balance of the season, into the playoffs, and in the Memorial Cup.
