FORT COLLINS — Being a starter is nice and all.
But everyone knows it's more important to be in the game at the end, when the outcome hangs in the balance.
Tiel Daniels has stared all 56 games since transferring to Colorado State after his sophomore season. But he hasn't always finished them.
That's because entering his senior season, he was a sub-50-percent free-throw shooter, making him a late-game liability. Instead of contributing in crunch time, he watched from the bench.
No fun at all. But Daniels is smiling a lot these days because ever since the Rams (14-10, 6-5 Mountain West) began conference play, he's found his shooting touch from the charity stripe, allowing him to stay on the floor and fulfill his potential as one of the league's top rebounders and low-post defenders.
