When two teams start as cold shooting the basketball as Colorado State and Fresno State did on Saturday night, something is bound to give. To the Rams' dismay, it gave in the wrong way, and it gave quickly in what turned into a 78-67 defeat.
Though CSU (5-10, 0-2 Mountain West) found open shots early in the game, very little fell. On many possessions, ball movement enabled shooters to get open from 3-point distance, but that's all it yielded. The Rams missed all 12 3-point attempts in the opening 20 minutes and shot just 33 percent overall.
That said, the Rams' defense kept them alive for much of the first half.
