Sand Diego State football hits its offensive stride

FORT COLLINS — The plan seemed sound, considering the facts.

If Colorado State could stall San Diego State's running game, it could force the Aztecs into an offense it didn't want to be.

The first part worked. The second didn't, as San Diego State quarterback Max Smith was sharp and efficient, keeping the chains moving in a 41-17 victory on Saturday.

The back-breaking drive came in the third quarter as the Aztecs — pinned at their own 11 by a 55-yard Hayden Hunt punt — went 89 yards in just 13 plays, and only 19 of it came via the rush.
