BOISE, Idaho — Striking first has been no problem for Colorado State. Neither has there been an issue of keeping it going in the current run that has landed the Rams in Thursday's Potato Bowl (5 p.m.; ESPN).

In the past five games, the Rams have scored at least 10 points in the first quarter, and in the last three, they've produced touchdowns on the opening drive. Defensively, they've held their ground pretty well, too, holding a lead in each of those five games by not allowing more than a single touchdown in those first frames, twice shutting down the opponent.
