FORT COLLINS — Even after a successful 3-0 start to the season, Colorado State coach Tom Hilbert knew his No. 9 Rams needed to be more terminal from the outside-hitting spot. It was going to be especially crucial with No 15 Arizona State visiting Moby Arena on Friday night to open the CSU/UNC Tournament.
It didn't transpire, especially in the first two sets. By the time the Rams regrouped in the third, they were still playing from behind, and overall, the Rams just weren't playing well enough.
Passing was erratic, and CSU had issues at the service line with six service errors and no aces.
