SANTA BARBERA, Calif. — Leaving the state for the first time, Tom Hilbert's young Colorado State squad proved it was ready for the task — as well as still maturing — in beating Baylor in four sets to start the Thunderdome Classic at UC Santa Barberra.
The No. 25 Rams improved to 4-0 on the season with the 25-23, 20-25, 25-19, 25-18 win, while Baylor fell to 3-2.
"We played very solidly against a team that was siding out well against us," Hilbert said. "We weren't scoring points super-rapidly, but we were just consistent in our sideout game, with the exception of a big run in the second set.
