LAS VEGAS — On Tuesday night, Colorado State volleyball coach Tom Hilbert continued a tradition that began in 1998, taking his seniors out for sushi. Wednesday night, the No. 13 Rams carried out another, laying sole claim to the Mountain West title for the seventh consecutive year with a four-set victory over UNLV, 25-18, 23-25, 25-19, 25-15.
The win — the 17th straight for Colorado State — pushed its mark to 23-3 on the season, 16-0 in conference play. UNLV slipped to 15-13, 8-8.
It wasn't always pretty, but CSU did find a way to pull through in a building that had traditionally been tough on the Rams.
