FORT COLLINS — Less than five years ago, Jase Herl was coaching middle schoolers in his hometown of Goodland, Kan.
Now he's an assistant for Larry Eustachy at Colorado State.
It's been quite the rise up the coaching ranks since his college playing days ended in 2009. But the ascension is easier to understand when you consider his maturity (he's still only 28) and ability to create and build relationships.
After a four-year college career split between Dodge City Community College and Colorado Mesa, Herl spent one season as an assistant at Mesa before moving back home to Goodland, just a few miles west of the Colorado-Kansas border.
