FORT COLLINS — K.J. Carta-Samuels to Preston Williams.
Not quite Nick Stevens to Michael Gallup, at least not yet, but Colorado State's new quarterback and receiver seemed have a pretty nice thing going.
CSU's defense may have put a big wet blanket on the Rams' season opener, giving up 617 yards in a 43-34 loss to visiting Hawaii on Saturday night, but at least the offense was able to make things fairly interesting late with a furious second-half rally.
Carta-Samuels and Williams both posted huge numbers in their CSU debuts as the quarterback threw for a team-record 537 yards to go with five touchdowns while the receiver racked up 188 yards on nine catches with two scores.
