Colorado State has designated Saturday’s game against Minnesota at Hughes Stadium as military day, and the school posthumously will honor two of its distinguished football-playing graduates — Lt. Col. John Mosley, a Manual High graduate and the first black player of the CSU football program’s modern era who went on to be a Tuskegee Airman and a career Air Force pilot and officer; and Lew Walt, who graduated from Fort Collins High and was a three-year starter and team captain for the Aggies as a senior in the 1930s. A career Marine, Walt served in three wars, was extensively decorated and eventually was a four-star general.
