AUSTIN, Texas — Tom Hilbert does everything for a reason.
Colorado State's volleyball coach has been around long enough, and found plenty of success, by forming a plan well before the season ever starts.
Sunday was an important part of Hilbert's blueprint facing No. 4 Texas on the Longhorns' own court and the longtime CSU coach supplied his team with what they needed — stiff competition before the opening of conference play.
"Yeah, that's the whole goal of playing it, and I think it did happen," he said. "I felt good about some of what was going on here.
