Members of the Colorado State community opened their hearts, and more specifically their cabinets, collecting a record-breaking total of 345,514 pounds of canned food during the annual Cans Around the Oval food drive, which benefits the Food Bank for Larimer County.
Colorado State University’s Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) collected the greatest total of any student organization, taking in 11,953 pounds. The donation translates to 500.74 pounds of food and $2,290.46 in cash donations, which equates to 11,452 pounds.
The women’s volleyball team led the way in the battle against hunger, collecting $604, equating to 3,022 pounds of food, at their “Spike Hunger” match Oct.
