CSU football's offense heads into season in synch

FORT COLLINS — As much as they thought they were — maybe hoped — the Rams just weren't ready.

The first game of a season always carries fire and optimism, but as the Rocky Mountain Showdown played out in 2016, Colorado State wasn't prepared for what Colorado brought to the field.

Most questions surrounding the Rams centered on a defensive unit starting eight new players. Offensively, that wasn't the case, and the feelings were bolstered by having a returning starter at quarterback in Nick Stevens.

He took a lot of heat that day, not only from the Buffs, but afterward as the Rams generated just 225 yards of total offense, only 63 through the air.
