FORT COLLINS — Jalen Bates is officially a Colorado State football player.
Head coach Mike Bobo said Bates, a graduate transfer from Arizona State, signed his paperwork earlier on Tuesday, the Rams' fourth day of spring camp.
Bobo said Bates is enrolled at grad school now at ASU and will finish a semester there before heading to Fort Collins. He will play defensive end, adding to the depth at the position and bringing starting experience. He started 10 games for the Sun Devils last year, finishing with 31 tackles and one sack.
"He's a defensive end, not just a pass rusher," Bobo said.
