LAS VEGAS — There will be no Cinderella story for Colorado State this year.
However, the Rams at least went down fighting.
A 15-point first-half lead wasn't enough for 10th-seeded CSU as Koby McEwen led seventh-seeded Utah State to a 76-65 win in the first round of the Mountain West tournament on Wednesday at the Thomas & Mack Center.
Utah State (16-16) tied the game late in the first half to overcome the big early deficit, then took the lead early in the second half on the strength of McEwen's game-high 25 points.
