After teammate Rashard Higgins was selected at the end of the fifth round, linebacker Cory James was selected with the 197th overall pick in the sixth round by the Oakland Raiders.

James is a natural edge rusher and was one of the best pass rushers in the history of the Colorado State football. For most of James’ collegiate career, he specialized as a pass-rusher, but James showed the ability to play the rush well, when he switched to an inside linebacker role his senior season.
