BOISE, Idaho — Well, the idea was nice while it lasted.
It was tense when it came back to life late. But Colorado State's dreams of a major upset were washed away in a rush of Jeremy McNichols' carries Saturday night, as the Boise State running back — held in check in the first two quarters — exploded with a mix of workhorse and thoroughbred in a 28-23 victory for the No. 15 Broncos.
The Rams, 31-point underdogs at one point this week, became the first team to lead Boise State this season when a field goal capped the Rams' first drive, but they couldn't do anything else offensively to become the first team to hand the Broncos a loss.
