Colorado State's defensive struggles continue in home loss to Long Beach State

FORT COLLINS — Colorado State basketball has been living dangerously at home so far this year.

For the third time in four games at Moby Arena, the Rams trailed at halftime Thursday night against Long Beach State.

CSU was able to erase the previous two deficits, but not this time, falling to the 49ers 83-77.

Maryland transfer Nick Faust followed up his 20-point effort Tuesday against San Diego State with another career-best effort against the Rams (5-2), scoring 27 points on 8-of-14 shooting to pace the 49ers (4-4).

CSU junior guard John Gillon scored a career-best 28 points on 7-of-13 shooting to lead the Rams, who lost their second straight after falling to UTEP in double-overtime on Saturday in Corpus Christi, Texas.
