Colorado State women swamp Denver

FORT COLLINS — Completing passes and hitting the floor with dribbles was far from simple for the University of Denver women's basketball team Wednesday night.

Colorado State played smothering defense to roll to a 76-49 victory at home in Moby Arena over their in-state rivals.

In total, the Pioneers turned it over 23 times, which CSU converted into 29 points. Of those turnovers, 14 were steals made by CSU in a defensive effort coach Ryun Williams needs his team to emulate, as the Rams' half-court offense still lacks complete cohesion on the young season.

"We feel that (forcing turnovers) can be a big part of what we do offensively," Williams said.
