SAN DIEGO — Colorado State volleyball matches — like the season — are coming down to the wire.
For the third straight contest, the Rams needed five sets to pull out a victory, topping San Diego State on the road Thursday, 22-25, 25-21, 18-25, 25-20, 15-9. The win improves CSU to 18-7 overall, 12-2 in Mountain West play. It remains tied with Boise State atop the standings, as the Broncos swept Fresno State.
Neither team hit well, nor was particularly clean, but the Rams rode their recent surge of confidence to find a way to overcome what wasn't working and find a way to win.
