ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Colorado State's "State Pride" uniforms were a one-game bonus, but the helmet that came with it will have a lasting place in the Rams' uniform choices, with a debut set for Saturday's New Mexico Bowl against Marshall (2:30 p.m.; ESPN).
The white helmets obtained for the "State Pride" uniforms were sent away to be painted green. Then a stencil of the bone Rams horn was placed, and the helmets were painted white again. The decals for the horns had to be removed to reveal the green horn, a lengthy process which took two weeks from the time the helmets were sent away to the time they returned in time for the bowl game.
