Colorado State receiving group a sum of its parts

FORT COLLINS — Football coaches can't always plug in players and expect everything to remain the same.

Sometimes, they get lucky. Sometimes, it requires development.

Colorado State struggled in the passing game early on as three different players started at quarterback the first three weeks. A big factor was also the insertion of a new set of wide receivers, especially with Xavier Williams — the Rams' most experienced returner — suspended the first two weeks, then gone after a cameo appearance in the third game.

Who remained was a young group of wideouts looking to find their way in the offense, in the system, in the program and eventually on the depth chart.
