Colorado State University announced it has received a major gift from energy entrepreneur Michael Smith, with much of it going to fund scholarships at the university and part of it attached to the new on-campus stadium
Smith, who attended Colorado State in the 1970s, is giving the school at $13 million gift, with $3.5 going to the stadium project for the naming rights of the Michael & Iris Smith Alumni Center at the facility, which is to serve as a welcoming to the more than 200,000 living alumni.
The majority of the gift ($5.8 million) will created 70 scholarships, 50 going to the College of Business.
