FORT COLLINS — For a first start, not too shabby.
Colorado State sophomore quarterback Nick Stevens was named the Mountain West offensive player of the week Monday after completing 20 of 28 passes for 289 yards and five touchdowns in the Rams' season-opening 65-13 win over Savannah State.
Stevens' five touchdown passes all went to different targets, exiting the game in the third quarter. That tied for second on the program list for scoring tosses in a game, joining Garrett Grayson (2014), Matt Newton (2000) and Dan Graham (1977).
It's the second season in a row the Rams have won the first conference offensive award, as Dee Hart did it a season ago.
