FORT COLLINS — Colorado State junior punter Hayden Hunt was named one of 10 semifinalists for the Ray Guy Award, the Augusta Sports Council announced Friday morning. The award is given annually to the top punter in the nation.
Hunt is averaging 46.3 yards per attempt this season, ranking fourth nationally. It has helped the Rams lead the nation in net punting at 43.3.
Of his 41 attempts this season, 11 have traveled at least 50 yards, 19 have landed inside the 20, 14 leading to fair catches with only one touchback.
This is the third season in a row Hunt has been on the list, but his first time as a semifinalist.
