Colorado State's football team had 15 spring practices to not only get acclimated to first-year defensive coordinator John Jancek and his 4-3 system, but also the instruction of a completely different batch of position coaches.
For the players, a comfort level developed with the coaches and the scheme, but not to the point of it being second nature.
While gains were made, that would be a lot to expect.
"There was constant improvement each and every single day," Jancek said. "I thought the guys were really committed to learning a new system, and it showed.
