Colorado State's football team picked up its ninth verbal commitment for the 2017 class when North Carolina linebacker Larry Matkins announced his decision Wednesday on Twitter. CSU's staff took advantage of the new NCAA rules regarding social media to retweet the announcement, including head coach Mike Bobo. as well as recruiting coordinator Geoff Martzen.
Matkins, a 6-1, 220-pounder out of Mallard Creek High School in Charlotte, is rated a two-star recruit by Rivals.com and is the third linebacker to give a verbal commitment to the Rams, the second in a week following the vow of Windsor's Corte Tapia.
