Colorado State football picks up verbal from Illinois tight end

Colorado State's football program picked up another verbal commitment this offseason when tight end Griffin Hammer announced via Twitter his intention to sign with the Rams in February.

The 6-foot-5, 220-pounder hails from Saint Charles, Ill. (St. Charles North), had eight catches for 426 yards and five touchdowns a season ago.

"Really, I just felt at home when I was there, from the people to the campus," Hammer said has he boarded a plan to head back home after a visit.

Hammer, who also plays basketball, becomes the fourth verbal commitment of the offseason for coach Mike Bobo's staff.
