FORT COLLINS — This was not the defensive change being sought.
In fact, there was little change at all for Colorado State as it opened the 2018 season with a new defensive coordinator (John Jancek) and a completely restructured staff on hand. A unit that ranked near the bottom of the country in total defense is off to a similar start after allowing a large underdog in Hawaii to march up and down Lubick Field inside Canvas Stadium to the tune of a 43-34 victory.
Head coach Mike Bobo may have missed 10 days of camp dealing with a medical issue, but the Rams' defense missed the boat against Hawaii's spread offensive attack.
