FORT COLLINS — For the leaders of Colorado State University, it was a perfect day.
Sunny skies greeted a group of around 500 university supporters Saturday on the site where the school is building its on-campus stadium. With the bonds already bought ($239.5 million worth, according to Steve Cottingham, the school's executive associate athletic director), construction is the next step and a group of dignitaries literally dug in their green and gold shovels at a ceremonial ground breaking for a stadium that will also host alumni and academic functions.
To Colorado State, the facility will mean a lot more to the university than just a football stadium open in time for the 2017 season.
