FORT COLLINS — There's something to be said for admiration.
Respecting the title is one thing. Football players are expected to dutifully follow their coach's instruction because of his position. It's a requirement.
Holding the man behind the title with esteem is something else entirely.
That is earned with time and character. Both those things were afforded to Colorado State coach Marty English when he was retained on the staff after the hiring of new football coach Mike Bobo.
English's reputation and accomplishments kept him on as a linebacker coach instead of co-defensive coordinator as he was under previous coach Jim McElwain, yet when the position became available once more, English's character won him back the job.
