SAN DIEGO — Colorado State basketball turned career performances by seniors Gian Clavell and Emmanuel Omogbo into its first win at San Diego State in 14 years.
Clavell scored a career-best 37 points and made a coast-to-coast, go-ahead layup with 4.9 seconds left to lift the Rams to a 78-77 comeback victory over the Aztecs on Saturday.
"The bottom line is courage won this game. Not Xs and Os," CSU coach Larry Eustachy said. "Our players were just determined enough to make plays. A great player just took over."
Clavell scored 30 points in the second half, helping his team overcome a 13-point deficit and snap a 13-game losing streak at Viejas Arena.
