FORT COLLINS — Colorado State began the season as one of the worst defensive teams in the country.
The Rams thought they had turned the corner toward the end of non-league play following a five-point loss at Kansas State in mid December. And for a stretch after that, CSU was in fact better defensively, allowing fewer than 70 points in four of its next six games.
