FORT COLLINS — Not every player will make an immediate impact.
For some — and for a plethora of reasons — it takes time to develop, to adapt, to even participate, let alone shine.
Colorado State senior defensive end Caleb Smith had basically been lost in the shuffle his three seasons with the Rams. He redshirted his first season out of Santa Monica College in California, and he didn't see the field the next year, either.
As a junior, he did see action in nine games, producing seven tackles as a reserve linebacker, two for a loss, one for a sack.
