After losing back-to-back games by a combined 34 points, Colorado State desperately needed a win. The visiting Rams jumped on Utah State right from tipoff and never trailed in a 64-56 win Saturday night in Logan.
What seemed like a re-energized CSU team sprinted out to a 9-4 lead at the first media timeout, led by five quick points from Prentiss Nixon. The Rams (12-8, 4-3) extended their lead to 19-6 minutes later. Utah State struggled to score from anywhere, going 3-of-14 from the field to begin.
CSU, meanwhile, played about as close to a perfect half as they could all things considered.
