SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Yorvit Torrealba strolled the hallways at the Rockies’ Salt River Fields complex on Monday looking like he could still crouch behind the plate to call a game or hit a game-changing homer.
But Torrealba, who played for the Rockies for five seasons, including on the 2007 World Series team, is now 43. His son, Yorvis, 24, is an outfielder in the Rockies’ minor-league system.
“I’m really excited to see him in uniform for the Rockies because that’s where I had my best years,” said Yorvit, who along with former teammate Clint Barmes, is spending a week at Salt River Fields instructing the minor leaguers.
