The idea is trading Ian Desmond to the New York Yankees in exchange for outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury. And for the life of me, I can’t see this trade making sense for either side. If you’re not aware of the atrocity of the Ellsbury contract, prepare to be enlightened. Ellsbury is owed $64.4 million over the next three seasons, with a club option of $21 million for the 2021 campaign.
