With NL West race coming down to the wire, second-place Dodgers counted their chickens before they hatched

Shortly after AJ Pollock blasted a 422-foot home run to dead center on Tuesday night at Chase Field, extending Arizona’s lead to 6-2 over the Dodgers, the broadcast camera panned a long, slow shot of the Los Angeles dugout.

What the lens revealed was a collection of distraught-looking Dodgers who, with the loss in Arizona, fell out of first place in the National League West to the Rockies.

The collective look of the Los Angeles bench was in marked contrast from the bravado which oozed from the home clubhouse at Chavez Ravine last week, after the Dodgers swept the Rockies and Yasiel Puig made the too-early proclamation that the division title was going to go to the Dodgers.
