The Rockies received some clarity with their options at first base Monday after Mark Reynolds underwent successful surgery on his broken left hand, but the club remains in limbo with its pitching rotation.
Reynolds had a fractured hook of the hamate bone in his left hand removed by Dr. Randy Viola, a surgeon at The Steadman Clinic in Vail. Reynolds is listed on the Rockies’ 15-day disabled list, but he is not likely to return anytime soon.
“He’ll be down for awhile,” Rockies manager Walt Weiss said. There is a chance Reynolds could return this season, Weiss said.
