The Rockies made the promotion of top prospect Brendan Rodgers official Friday in Philadelphia, and announced three corresponding roster moves.
Left-handed reliever Jake McGee was re-instated from the injury list, as a left knee sprain had kept the 32-year-old out of action since early April. He has only made two appearances on the season, allowing no runs.
To clear roster space for Rodgers and McGee, Colorado optioned right-handed reliever DJ Johnson and infielder Pat Valaika to Triple-A Albuquerque. Both players have made two stints with the Rockies this season but have under-performed — Johnson with a 9.
