Wilin Rosario got caught between home plate and first base last season, but on Tuesday he slipped away from the Rockies.
Rosario elected to become a free agent instead of accepting a minor-league assignment after the Rockies outrighted him to Triple-A on Monday night.
He most likely will not return to Colorado next season.
Rosario was designated for assignment Nov. 20 in Colorado's purge of arbitration-eligible players, to make room for minor-league additions. But while the Cubs swooped in to trade for DFA'd lefty reliever Rex Brothers and the White Sox swapped for right-hander Tommy Kahnle, no teams bit on Rosario.
