Recently, the Rockies and their fans received some brutal news — Scott Oberg has once again required surgery for blood clots in his elbow, which could potentially spell the end of his big league career.
On any team, this would be a huge blow; for the Rockies, it’s downright devastating. A stalwart in the late innings since 2015, it’s impossible to underscore how critical Oberg has been to the team’s success in recent years (check out Justin Wick’s fantastic career retrospective here, if you feel like crying today).
