Todd Helton is in the midst of his first Hall of Fame ballot appearance. In this article, Jay Jaffe uses JAWS (Jaffe Wins Above Replacement Score, using Baseball-Reference WAR) to detail Helton’s 17-year career with the Rockies as well as compare him to other similar players vying for the Hall, such as Larry Walker. Helton was constantly on hitting leaderboards, including being only one of 18 other hitters (four of whom are first basemen) with at least a career .300/.400/.500 line in at least 7,000 career plate appearances. Jaffe also talks about how 22 of the top 30 players in home OPS are in the Hall of Fame (Helton is sixth).
