Nolan Arenado's diving catch into the stands at AT&T Park on Tuesday has already been dubbed by many as the catch of the year in Major League Baseball. The two-time Gold Glove third baseman made a running, over-the-shoulder grab of Gregor Blanco's pop-up in foul territory, making the catch before landing on the tarp, face-first, and into the front row of the stands. Then, from his knees, he turned around to attempt to throw out a baserunner at third.
The catch caused jaws to drop — including Walt Weiss' — and even drew comparisons to Derek Jeter's famous catch in 2004, against the Red Sox at Yankee Stadium.
