Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports has reported that Weiss could be one of the frontrunners for the Arizona Diamondbacks job in the offseason. There are a lot of “if’s” that would have to happen for this scenario to come true, but it is an intriguing rumor.
With Weiss in the last year of his contract with the Rockies, there is some logic behind the Diamondbacks turning their attention within the division toward the Colorado skipper. However, current manager Chip Hale would need to be released from his duties. As MLB Trade Rumors notes, Weiss has a history with Arizona chief baseball officer Tony La Russa and general manager Dave Stewart.
