By his own estimation, it has been a difficult season for Rockies utility outfielder Ryan Raburn. He has battled injuries to his left knee and right quad and his .226 average has failed to meet his own expectations.
But when the Rockies took the field against the Chicago Cubs on Saturday night, Ryan was starting at first base. With the loss of Mark Reynolds last week to a hand injury, Raburn will be seeing more and more time there during the final quarter of the Rockies’ season.
“He’s going to get an opportunity tonight, against a lefty,” manager Walt Weiss said, referring to Chicago starter Mike Montgomery.
