Looking to possibly add some veteran depth to their bullpen, the Rockies announced Friday that they’ve signed veteran left-hander Jorge De La Rosa to a minor-league deal. De La Rosa turned 38 on Friday.
The Rockies plan to use him as a reliever — if he’s called up to the big-league team — and he will begin throwing for the organization at their minor-league facility in Scottsdale, Ariz., where De La Rosa lives full time.
Pitching for Colorado from 2008-16, De La Rosa went 86-61 with 4.35 ERA. He holds Colorado’s franchise record for career wins, as well as career strikeouts with 985.
